2014 Pilgrimage to Buddhist Places of Worship in India
The Management Committee has received a request from a group of dedicated practitioners about the possibility of arranging a pilgrimage to
India in 2014. Previous tours arranged by the Dhammagiri Community offered a choice of 2 or 3 weeks stay in India and took place in the months of February/March of each year. An air conditioned coach with toilet facilities was hired for the tour last year and the pilgrims stayed in clean & comfortable hotels. For more details about the tour facilities on offer please contact Lalani at Travelscene, Springwood on 38082299.
Before committing to the pilgrimage we are seeking expressions of interest from the Dhammagiri Community and friends as to who would like to attend so that we can determine if there is a sufficient number of pilgrims to go forward with plans for such a tour. There is usually a maximum of 26 pilgrims.Thereafter we will approach Ven. Dhammasiha with the proposal. Once he gives his approval the tour will be organised with the help of Lalani Pathikirikorale and we will forward the itinerary to you.

Donations for the Bushfire Bunker
Each Summer, many of us that came to Dhammagiri were extremely concerned about the possibility of Bushfires coming towards the monastery. As you know, the monks live isolated in single-room kuti’s scattered around in the bush. After much discussion and study of the options available, we decided that the best way to ensure the safety of monks and other residents was to install a Bushfire Bunker in the Dhammahall grounds (see video below). The cost to supply and install the bunker and for council certification has totalled $18,000.00. We are now well on the way to raising this amount with over half of the cost raised by generous donors. (Click here for donation details) |

Installation of New Bushfire Bunker
Following another devastating bushfire season in Australia, Dhammagiri has installed an underground bushfire bunker to improve the safety of the resident and visiting monks. (Click here for Bushfire Bunker details). Though now installed, funding for this important project is still to be raised. If interested in donating, please visit the "Donate" page for details. New furniture for the new accommodation for visiting
or sick monks. Anumodana to all the people who generously supported the Dhammagiri Celebration Night held recently. All proceeds from the night have gone toward providing most of the new furniture for the recently completed accommodation on top of the hill. |
From Vision to Reality
As the new monks' facilities on top of the hill near completion, Bhante Dhammasiha would like to express his Anumodana to all the generous donors and supporters who made this very important development a reality.
